The Sub-Himalayan region of northeastern India, Nepal, and Bhutan is where large cardamom is grown. It is grown in cold, humid conditions in the shadow of trees between 800 and 2000 meters above mean sea level, with temperatures ranging from 6 to 30 degrees Celsius and an average precipitation of 3000 to 3500 mm over roughly 200 days.
A persistent herb, large cardamom with 50 to 140 aerial leaves shoots and underground rhizomes. Each shoot is between 1.7 and 2.6 meters tall, and each tiller has between 9 and 13 leaves. Both sides of the leaves are glabrous, and the midrib is noticeable. Condensed spike-shaped inflorescence with a yellowish perianth. 10-15 fruits are on each spike. Fruit has an oval or spherical form, and the capsule is reddish brown in color. Each trilocular capsule contains many seeds.

About Cardamom production and selling organization
Currently, I am cultivating cardamom in Ghanpokhara-8, Lamjung, Nepal in approximately 6 acres land that is located 1700-2100 m from sea level. From this business I am getting 2.5 million profit yearly.
After calculating my business income, it has been easy to accommodate my household from that income. Now, I have started to think that I will expand my business land from 5 acres to 12 acres nearly. To make this happen I need a help from government which is that I should get what others farmers are getting which is agriculture provision from government.
In future, I am aiming to make my business international.
By seeing the Nepal’s land structure and its soil, Cardamom can be cultivated in Nepal’s highland areas and has been nurtured.
Mainly, tree types of Cardamom are nurtured in Nepal according to the altitude of cultivating land.

This type of Cardamom is cultivated in 1100 m to 1700 m altitude from sea level and its seeds are small. For most, this type of seed does not need continuous water to be nurtured.
Gol Sahi
This type of Cardamom is cultivated in 1700 m to 2100 m altitude from sea level and its seeds are big and long. For this seed to be nurtured, cold place is needed. This type of Cardamom is considered as good breed among Cardamom.
Dambar Sahi
This type of Cardamom is applied in 2100 m and higher altitudes from sea level and its seeds are bigger and longer than other types of its seeds. This type of cardamom is recognized as best among other cardamoms.
